Proposed transfer to Ormiston Academies Trust (OAT)

After thorough consideration, the Thomas Wolsey Governing Body has made the decision to secure the future of our School by transferring to Ormiston Academy Trust (OAT), not-for-profit Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) with an established and well respected local and national network

A MAT is where a group of schools is governed through a single set of members and directors. OAT has a strong ethos of supporting students to overcome disadvantage and of family values which is very pertinent to Thomas Wolsey. Ormiston Endeavour Academy (OEA) is part of the Ormiston Academies network and this brings the added benefit of shared ownership of the school site and buildings.

As a standalone academy, the governors are very aware that in order to secure long term sustainability, and to ensure appropriate challenge and support, the most sensible and proactive route forward is to be part of a larger network of schools.

In early 2018 Thomas Wolsey will transfer to OAT to join the 30+ primary and secondary academies already within the OAT family.

As an OAT academy we would enhance our ethos as a successful, caring school with a strong commitment to excellence and opportunities for its pupils, staff and community.

The Governing Body will continue to communicate with its pupils, parents, staff and local community and will provide opportunities for the school and OAT to explain the decision and respond to any queries and feedback from you. This website will hold all relevant downloads, FAQs and background information, and you can contact us via email with any queries.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support.

Your sincerely

Helen McDougall, Headteacher and Sue Chesworth, Chair of Governors
