Thomas Wolsey Ormiston Academy is located in a purpose-built school designed with our children in mind; it has wide corridors, push-button doors and tactile corridors all of which support independent movement around the school, a key priority for us. There are lots of large storage areas too for all our equipment!
We have two designated sensory rooms but most classrooms also have dark dens. These are further sensory spaces which allow personalised learning approaches for pupils without having to leave the class.
The academy also has a soft play area, a fully accessible swimming pool, hygiene suites and outdoor areas with a fully-accessible playground and MUGA.
We are co-located with Ormiston Endeavour Academy which allows opportunities for collaborative working and the sharing of resources and expertise between the schools.
A number of professionals from Suffolk’s Intergrated Community Paediatric Services are also based at the school including physiotherapists, speech therapists, occupational therapists and SCARC, (Suffolk Communication Aids Resource Centre) making access to clinics, assessments and training much easier for all involved. Clinics and some training is based at school.
Some of our facilities are available for community hire and we welcome interest from community groups who would like to discuss potential opportunities for hiring. Prices are subject to annual review and bookings are conditional on acceptance of our Terms & Conditions of Hire (available on request).
