Our Governing Body

Our current Local Governing Body consists of 8 members, in addition to the Co-Principals Helen Dickenson and Emily Webster.

Lynne Goodwyn

Lynne is our Chair of Governors, SEND and Wellbeing Governor. She is our Link Governor for RSHE (covered through our SEWB/PCI curriculum), PD (Physical Development) and Understanding the World. She has been involved with the school for many years as a parent of a former pupil. She has a background in nursing.

Nansi Flack

Nansi is our Safeguarding and LAC Governor. She is also our Link Governor for Literacy and Numeracy. She has had a varied career, including working within the fields of scientific research and corporate lending within the City of London. Nansi retired in December 2023 after 20 years of teaching within the Primary phase as an accredited Primary Maths specialist and SENDCO. She is also the legal guardian for her brother who has complex learning disabilities.

New Governor position

We hop to have a new Parent Governor joining our Governing Body soon who has a long association with the school through her role as foster carer and link carer for many of our pupils over the years.

Sue Chesworth

Sue is our Vice Chair of Governors, Governor for Finance, Pupil Premium and Careers. She is the Link Governor for Communication and Interaction. Sue has had many years of experience in the field of special educational needs.  Her roles have included: educational consultant, headteacher of a special school and CEO of a local charity which supports young people with additional needs.

Jack Hickling

Jack is a Parent Governor. Jack is a father to two girls and three boys, one of whom attends Thomas Wolsey. He is keen to learn more about the world of special needs, which is why he decided to become a Governor. Jack works in deliveries for a large chain store but when he’s not at work he likes to spend time with the family having days out and the occasional UK holiday.

Megan Smith

Megan is our second Staff Governor. She currently teaches Secondary pupils and is pastoral teacher of Redshanks class. Megan has worked at the school in a range of roles including SSA and cover supervisor, as well as teacher. Megan played a pivotal role in introducing the Duke of Edinburgh Award into school. Now in its fourth year, this has now become an established part of the school’s curriculum.

Sally Faiers

Sally is one of our two Staff Governors and has worked at the school for over 10 years as both an MDSA and SSA. Sally currently works in Sandpipers class and is a member of the staff well-being committee.

Sam Morley

Sam is our Link Governor for Sensory, Enrichment and Science and Technology. She was formerly a Parent Governor and remains on the Governing Body as a Community Governor. Sam worked for BT as a systems designer for 21 years. She is very involved in her local church and the academy’s PTA.
